Starting a Blog

I'm about to start my 20th year in education. During that time, I've learned a great deal from others as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and school leader. This year, I want to begin to capture and share that learning electronically. So, I'm going to start blogging. I'm hoping to share (at least weekly), my reflections and learning as I begin a new chapter in my career as the principal of Hillview Crest Elementary School in the New Haven Unified School District.

This has been a big life change for me - moving from Boston to San Francisco, and taking on a new leadership role. This district has recently been awarded a Race to the Top (RTTT) grant, and will be embarking on some exciting new adventures in learning. I'm hoping to capture that work along the way and the impact it has on our learning community.

I'm hoping this blog not only benefits me in terms of self-reflection and documentation, but that it has a broader appeal to our school community and a larger community of learners as well.
